Iloilo for a day. Sorta.

We were probably in Iloilo for less than 24 hours. We used it as merely as an entry point. Since our flight to Iloilo was in the afternoon, the next boat trip to Guimaras was the next morning. We stayed at Highway 21 for the night. It was clean, affordable and the room was pretty spacious. We got the deluxe room for P1000 located at the new wing. You have the option to get the same type of room for less in the older part of the hotel which didn’t have an elevator. The staff was pleasant and we didn’t have a problem. One turnoff though was they used recycled water for the toilet. We had our breakfast and I was very happy with my filling pancakes and bacon meal for P130.

We vowed to have La Paz Batchoy as our first meal when we arrived Thursday evening in Iloilo. Since it was Holy Week, a lot of establishments were closed already. Our 3rd Deco’s was thankfully open and we had a bowl of the local treat. I didn’t like it though. Haha

When we returned to Iloilo, we had 4 hours to spare before going to the airport. What did we end up doing? Eating of course! Maik took us to Breakthrough – a famous local spot that resembles a dampa which cooks delish food at delish prices.

Our lunch here was half the price of our dinner at the resort. The placed was packed on this hot Easter Sunday mostly with families celebrating the holiday.

We hit the massive (well massive for provincial standards, it’s bigger than the 7-11 along Emerald Avenue or the 7-11 along Timog next to GMA) Deco’s pasalubong center near SM for our Iloilo goods. If you can only buy ONE thing to bring home from Iloilo, do try Mama’s Kitchen thin crisps in different flavors. Next time I head there or know of someone heading there (paging Berna, Mj and Kim), I’ll ask them to hoard for me! Hihihi

I saw Mango Ketchup too. Sorry but eeewwww…

We still had some time so our driver suggested we go to Avenue. It’s reminiscent of Metrowalk in terms of structure but ATC in terms of ambiance.

We had our last “meal” at Coffee Break where sugar was good! =) Oh this the time when I sacrificed chocolates so it was pretty tricky. Haha
